Learn about the Chamber's efforts internationally, what it does and how

We are open to the world

The Chamber maintains relations with many foreign partners, particularly in Europe, but also at the global level, particularly with French-speaking countries.

What is the Chamber doing at European Union level?

EU countries are not only geographically close, but are part of the same political community. While each Member State has competence for public health and the organisation of healthcare systems, the principles of European law and some European legislations directly apply to pharmacists and to the health products they work with.
The Chamber endeavours to anticipate changes in legislation and practice relevant to the profession, while drawing on the experience of its neighbours in the area of professional practice.
To that end, it takes part in the work of several European non-profit associations:

  • European Health Professionals' Competent Authorities (EurHeCA): European association of Chambers of Health Professionals and similar authorities
  • Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU): European association of community pharmacy
  • European Industrial Pharmacists Group (EIPG)
  • EPhEU: European association of employed community pharmacists

Transparency register

The Chamber is listed in the transparency register of European institutions.

What is the Chamber doing at global level?

The Chamber’s activities at global level aim at conducting comparative analysis of pharmaceutical practice, in order to learn from other countries and to anticipate future developments.
The Chamber chairs the International Conference of French-speaking Chambers of Pharmacists (CIOPF), a non-profit organisation of 33 Pharmacy Chambers and similar bodies, tasked with:

  • Facilitating professional contacts between French-speaking pharmacists, whatever their area or place of practice, and promoting their role in society,
  • Spreading the pharmaceutical culture of French-speaking countries, while respecting professional ethics,
  • Collaborating with any organisation that shares our ethics and our sole purpose, which is to promote public health.

The CIOPF is a forum for member Chambers and is also involved in international projects, particularly in the fight against counterfeit medicines.

The National Council of the Chamber of Pharmacists is a member of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), which brings together 139 professional or scientific pharmaceutical organisations.
Each year, a few representatives of our Chamber participate in the FIP Congress in order to report the latest professional developments in France and to learn from other countries. The Chamber occasionally takes part in working groups and uses the international comparative reports produced by FIP.
